Since fall of 1993, Austin FilmWorks has offered college level filmmaking courses with the aim of providing solid information and experience that students may use to create their own film and video projects. Our students are diverse in background, practical experience, and age. They come largely from the city's universities, corporations, and arts communities.

Austin FilmWorks has earned a reputation for challenging students to innovate in the independent tradition. That independence is based on a bedrock knowledge of film stocks, lenses, cameras and formats. We believe that technical and aesthetic grounding leads to individual control of the creative process.

We believe the ongoing digital imaging and editing revolution is evolving new creative opportunities for the well informed. One need only information, advice and experience to take advantage of the film and video possibilities.

We believe that filmmaking is both the hardest and most fulfilling of work, and that the process should always be fun.
